Pours brown, looks very dark brown to black in the glass, with reddish hints through light. Medium sized, relatively compact off-white/greyish head, shows quite good retention and a bit of lacing. Average intensity in the aroma: soft maltiness upfront with caramel and nuttiness, perhaps the slightest buttery hint (soft, pleasant), hints of licorice, very light fruitiness (fruit cake). Taste confirms a light/subdued roasted character, now showing up a bit. Soft maltiness as suggested (caramel, nuttiness, not detecting any buttery notes now), very light roasted notes with coffee hints, a touch of licorice. A not too timid dry, floral, slightly leafy/tea-like bitterness shows up and brings balance. Good taste definition and intensity. Medium sweetness and medium bitterness, very slightly on the sweet/soft side in the mouth, light bitter, quite dry edge in finish/aftertaste. Light to medium bodied with low to medium, quite delicate carbo; pretty easy to drink but pleasantly soft in the mouth with a pleasant hint of creaminess. Very good!
