Cask. Red-brown with a moderate cream head. Cough mixture and strawberry bubblegum. Bit of chocolate. Fake cinnamon syrup flavour with lots of cloves and a touch of white pepper. Really sweet and sticky, sickly by the end. Glad I only had a half. Nevertheless, at least Caley have produced a special that isn’t just a run of the mill bitter so kudos to them for that... even if it is gopping.

Cask @ Moon Under Water, Manchester. Dark clear copper with a small head. Fairly sweet with cinnamon and some ginger evident in both aroma and taste. The spice, although dominant is not overbearing.

Cask at the Geldart, Cambridge. Reddish brown and translucent with a generous beige/tan head and lots of lacing. Chocolate, clove and coriander on the gentle bouquet. The taste is sweet, gently spicy and warming. Stone fruit and a hint of liquorice in the finish. Very good.

Cask at Victoria Station. It pours clear deep brown with a small, bubbly beige head. The nose is sweet-spicy, dark fruits, fruit cake, gingerbread and brown sugar. The taste is bitter, woody, leather, dark fruits, warming spice, ginger and brown bread with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty alright for a winter spiced ale.
