Small Beer is an exceptionally satisfying and full-bodied beer for its stature, with the same big hop hit you may expect from our more muscular Pale Ales. Small Beer is vibrant with citrus, tropical fruit and hedgerow berry flavours, meandering to a gentle bitter finish.

Suitable for vegans.

330ml bottle. Poured a hazy golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, slightly yeasty, light lemon citrus hop. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, light bitter with a light, crisp, fresh, slightly watery, citrus, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Keg at the Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Yellow/gold pour with a white head. Aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango. Crisp fruit flavours of pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit, banana. A veritable fruit feast on the palate. Very nice beer.

Keg at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours clear yellow with a creamy, white head. Pretty bland, really, some very mellow pale malts, lemon rind, hay. Light bodied with delicate carbonation. Little activity in the finish. I'm all for low ABV beer, but there's no point to this one.

14th Aug 2018; half-pint, keg at the Bottle Shop, Canterbury. (sold as Small Beer Batch 26, hope I've put this in the right breweries listings?) Bright golden body, white crown. Too cold to have much of an aroma or taste at first, but as it warmed in afternoon sunshine light malts and some citrus hop flavours and esters began to appear. Nice and pleasant session beer with enough going on without the need of an alcoholic kick.

Tap at Hunter&Sons. Straw, melon, wheat, hay, mild lemon. Nice, balanced, true session beer. Quite sessionable, but also has some nice depth. Brighter than a lot of the toffee weighed down offerings I’ve had around England. Fresh, well done.

On tap at Nettle & Rye, Bristol 9/5/2017. Golden, with a slight, white, head. Plenty of tropical and pineapple fruits, biscuity malts, grassy hops and a lingering, dryish, finish. A touch watery perhaps but, overall, a very good low ABV beer.

500ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden colour with a small white head. Hoppy aroma, citrus/tropical fruit. Taste is fruity, citrus and tropical, biscuity malt, dryish light bitter finish. Good flavour and mouthfeel for such a low ABV, while not outstanding it’s still highly sessionable.
