Bière rafraîchissante en temps de canicule, cette Cwtch s’apparente davantage à une IPA qu’à une Amber Ale. Son amertume avec un IBU de 50 est de surcroît mis en avant par un sucre peu présent et une présence maltée à minima. Mais si la structure de la bière est plutôt honnête, celle-ci pêche par un manque de complexité (arômes agrumes, résineux et miel), par sa corpulence et sa longueur. En verre nous sommes sur un ambré couleur thé (EBC aux alentours de 34) avec une mousse blanc cassée nappant tout juste la surface. L’effervescence est quant à elle moyenne. Nez appréciable sur la fraîcheur et des agrumes prépondérants auxquels viennent s’ajouter résineux, pointe de miel et de fruits exotiques. L’intensité aromatique ne se retrouve cependant à la dégustation avec une attaque plutôt aqueuse très léger en arômes d’agrumes et résineux et une amertume qui se voudra sèche tout au long de la dégustation. La deuxième bouche se densifie très légèrement avec des arômes gagnant quelque peu en profondeur. L’arrière bouche quant à elle est sur une amertume plus tranchée, toujours sur le pamplemousse et le résineux. Amertume intense que l’on retrouve en troisième bouche (toujours sur les agrumes et le résineux) mais qui retombe vite pour un final très court voire absent. Cependant, même imparfaite, sous grosse chaleur, cela fait du bien!

Bottle 33 cl. Dark orange, hazy with a nice foamy off white head. Hoppy aroma with some grapes and citrus sense. Light bitter with a OK hop end.

Off white rocky head stayed well on a dark red, finely carbonated body. Sweet dark berries & pine aroma. Medium body, clean on the palate & tingly on the back. Bitter/sweet berries, pine, hoppy, citrus & hints of malt. This beer defies it’s relatively low ABV.

Caňa en el Lúpulo Oviedo 17..06.. 2017. (r281). Color ámbar amarillento turbio con espuma blanca persistente. Sabores frescos herbáceos y cítricos con bastante gas. Cuerpo ligero espumoso fácil de beber y Refrescante. Normal.

Can, 10C. Amber with an inch of off-white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of toffee, sticky breadcrust, a tiny bit of stewed fruit, grapefruit, oranges, some herbs. The trick few hoppy ambers pull off is to make the hops and the caramel work together without malt getting in the way of the hops. And this manages it just fine, although the citrus really comes through only at the fairly bitter end. Maybe that means it’s "really" just a bitter with modern hops. As well as what’s in the aroma there’s a little earthiness and some pepper. Engaging, refreshing.

Can. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Unexpected tick. Murky, dark red. Thick, lively, foamy, off white head. Nose has pink grapefruit. Pine sap. Raspberry jam. Sweet, cakey malts. Taste has a spicy fruit sweetness, turning resinous and chewy bitter. Smooth mouthfeel. Prickly carbonation. Chewy bitter finish. Nice one.

Cask @ Charlies bar, Copenhagen. Pours dark amber with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, light caramel, grass, sweet fruity hops. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, malt, grass, fruit. Medium body, soft carbonation. 120517

Bottle from M&S. light amber with a thin head. Aroma of orange caramel. Flavour is tropical fruit, bitter citrus hop, sharp malt on a long dry bitter base.

On tap at Vrteška. Reddish golden-amber body. Creamy aroma, tropical fruit hoppiness balanced with a solid maltiness. Very drinkable, tropical fruit resting on soft maltiness, light bitterness. Yeah, no more descriptors, but this is a fantastic session beer. Loved it!

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - Very nice. Had while finishing preparation for a Sunday lunch. Good flavours and a very nice mouthfeel. Nice taste of malt and a richness to the flavour.
