An opaque black pour with a thick cream head; aroma of roasted grains; smooth grainy texture, not too sweet, with toast and chocolate malt flavours; and a light prickly bitterness that lifts the finish, leaving some coffee and chocolate undernotes.A smooth and very drinkable mild.

Bottle at ChrisOโs Pre-Christmas Tasting. It pours darkest brown with a thick beige head. The nose is toasty, earthy roast, bitter - sweet character, umami, dark chocolate and rocky road. The taste is bitter, toasted malts, wood, leather, dried fruits and cocoa with a dry finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. Well-rounded and rather quaffable. Nice work.

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre-Christmas / post-Pigs Ear holiday tasting of 2015 - London. Cheers! Pours rich brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds burnt toast, cocoa, char and brown sugar. Light to medium sweet flavor with dried fruits, light chocolate, more brown sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry cocoa in the finish, light roast, earth, further dried fruits. A serviceable mild.

Bottle from Saucy Pears. Appearance - close to opaque black with a decent creamy head. Nose - chocolate and nuts, creamy backdrop. Taste - more of the same. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a creamy finish. Overall - nice mild.

500ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours dark brown, near black, thin tan head. Aromas of chocolate, nuts, cocoa, bit earthy. Taste is light sweet, light fruit, chocolate. Good body for the strength.

Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, smooth and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Mild dark malts. Dark chocolate streak with mellow coffee. Tangy dark fruits. Little lactose. Light dry finish. Comes over like a scaled down porter.
