Tawny ale, named after “Owde Barry Legg” who sadly passed away the Christmas before last. A local legend in the Cerne Valley. Jester is the predominant hop in this beer. Jester has been bred in captivity in the “hopshires” of England under the watchful eye of Will Rogers and the British Hop breeding programme.

Bottle from Tick Beer. Clear amber-gold with small but well formed white head. A fairly standard malty aroma with light toasted grain and caramel. Taste again malty with caramel notes but with resin, marmalade, herbal bitterness. Light to medium bodied, lightly cloying on palate, below average carbonation for the style. To be fair this has more to it than the aroma suggested. Very drinkable but no wow factor here.

Bottle ordered from Tick Beer, Dorsetshire. Aroma had a tang if citrus alongside veg infused malts. Clear amber. Thin translucent white head. Medium-heavy bitter. Tart citrus and quinine. A tad marmalade. Grainy. Malty hints but the hops dominate. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Not as drab as I feared. Not a chicken dinner but no turkey twizzler.
