30 April 2019. At Dirk's First Home-made Beer Tasting. Cheers to all! Pours hazy yellow with a lasting, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of 'margarine', wheat, white bread, pepper, green banana, apple peel. Taste is light fruity sweet, subtle apple & banana on yeasty, sourish wheaty & lemony base, turning quite bitter with spicy pepper touches and eventually dry in the grassy hoppy finish with lingering spices, wheat & yellow fruit. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonaiton. Slightly 'off' in the aroma and taste-wise a bit one-sided.

Voici une belle saison, agréable et plutôt bien équilibrée autour d'une amertume fine et élégante grâce notamment à un choix judicieux d'houblons avec Holdings et Challenger. Certains pourront être déçus d'une levure et d'un alcool se faisant un peu trop ressentir. Personnellement, cela ne me dérange pas et je trouve même que cela lui donne un brin de tempérament. Elle en reste cependant relativement simple. Joli visuel avec un blond limpide (EBC de 10) surmonté d'une mousse de 3 mm et parcouru par de très fines bulles. Le nez se porte sur un houblon fin, légèrement citronné et herbacé, en complément d'arômes de céréales et de banane, le dernier étant l'expression de la levure. L'attaque, très légèrement acidulée est sur les céréales, le citron et la levure. A noter une retro plus douce donnant un contraste intéressant. La deuxième bouche est davantage sur le houblon, fin, et légèrement herbacé. L'alcool fait alors plus que ses 5,5 % avec des arômes bien présents. L'arrière bouche, un peu plus acidulée est quelque peu brouillonne mais d'une ampleur correcte. Le final se veut sec et astringent mais toujours sur une amertume appréciable et très bien dosés avec 36 d'IBU (et aidé en cela par un sucre peu présent). Un joli moment, simple mais agréable.

As is often recommended when doing a tasting I’m starting with the lowest ABV. Siphon Saison 5.5% A nice copper-gold with a substantially thick head. The aroma is hay, honey, herbs and spices though I did get a small whiff of apple when I opened the bottle. Medium bodied with a round raspy carbonation and a herbal farmhouse kind of flavor. The ABV is what I dig for a saison (5-6% which is in the low end for the style) though the flavor is a bit too much hay, slightly rough but alright. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home. Hazy yellow golden color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, citruspeel, light peppery, a bit dry bitter. A bit fizzy carbonation, decent body. Ok.

Bottle shared in Hackney / many thanks is to Cloin. Pours hazy orange-gold with a frothy, lightly billowing white head. Expressive citrusy hops in the nose, wheat flakes, saison yeast. Light to medium sweet flavour with more bready wheat character, subtle bitter straw, some ripe lemon, tangerine. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more vibrant citrus fruit character, melon, tangerine, low bitterness, wheat bread. Good fun. Solid.

Bottle split at Bodney Heights, from an online order, 22/02/18. Hazed golden orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is tangy citric peel, spice, lemon rind, grains, grass. Taste comprises light funk, yeast esters, spice, grains, lemon piss, tangy fruits, stale bread. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Decent enough saison.
