Pours a bright golden color that is crystal clear, with a bitterness which is soft to the tongue and nose and an aroma of fresh hops, finishes crisp with light spicy hops. Well balanced and refreshing with perfect levels of malt sweetness, toasted grain and hops, perfect for Aruba’s tropical climate.

Can - brought back from Aruba by Mike B - thanks!. Pours pale yellow with a fizzy white head that dissipates quickly with some lacing. Aroma is grain, cardboard, corn syrup, hay. Flavor is about the same. Pretty much right down the middle of the Pale Lager fairway.

22 cl. bottle shared / thx to Tderoeck – crystal clear golden, smell & taste is lots of sweet corn syrup, skunky, old vegetables, old hay, synthetic hops in aftertaste, old hay, very slightly better in an unimportant way than the Chill version

25cl bottle, thanks Tderoeck for the share.

14/IV/2012 - 22cl bottle @ home - BB: 2/V/12 (2012-354) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!
Clear light orange beer, small white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: nasty, rotten hay, pretty skanky, corn syrup. MF: soft carbon, light body. Taste: some citrus, bit hoppy, grains, hay. Aftertaste: slightly bitter, corn sweetness. Terrible, even when chilled in the freezer. Nothing hides the terrible aroma.

Given by a friend. Golden colour, white head. Aroma of malts, rather sweet, faintest hint of hops. Light bodied. Supposedly brewed by a German brewer with imported German malts, though in reality it is just another beer brewed for and in a warm climate. Refreshing though.

Review from notes sampled the week of 8/6/2008 Honeymoon in Aruba and lets just say craft beer hasn’t come into vogue on this scorching desert of an island. Balashi is the Aruba beer and you can find it everywhere. I got the chance to try this on tap, in green 12oz bottles and in brown 7oz bottles, it makes no difference the beer is a pretty crappy macro lager. Smells and tastes like you’d expect light with hints of corn, honey, grains, and some skunk. I often found a mineral taste, but not always. When in Aruba this is certainly your freshest choice, but certainly nothing to get excited about.

20cl bottle from a friend. I drank this at the brewery in Aruba in 2006. A nice lager for the Aruban climate.

On Draft 1/27/10 at the brewery "Beer Garden" in Aruba while on shore for the day, while on the "Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise". Not bad for the style. Decent white head, Clear medium gold color. The flavor was a bit skunky, although this sample was draft. Woody, hop aroma, faint malt as should be. The Brewmaster is German, and he does a commendable job brewing a boring style of beer as well as any.
