Handpull cask at the Belvoir Alehouse, Old Dalby. Dark brown, only slightly translucent with a khaki-coloured head. Light chocolate and coffee aromas. Sweet taste with gentle roast malt. Finish is more bitter with a metallic finish. Thinner body than many session-strength stouts, but there's some soft natural carbonation that excites the palate. Decent.

Cask handpump ’sample’ at the brewpub, Old Dalby, Leics/Rutland’ 23-01-09 and then in bottle 27-01-09 Pours very dark brown with an off white small bubbly head. The aroma is just a little weak but some malts and oat can be picked up. This was a little fruitier than I expected but very nice for it. There is a flourish of roasty flavours coming through and a dryness at the end A6 A4 F7 P4 OV14 3.5
