Can pour. Pours opaque black, minimal head or lacing. Aroma is cocoa, molasses, earth, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter. Full body, silky mouthfeel.

Tap at the Veil. Big, viscous, sugary, sweet. Pleasant bourbon barrel tone hints and stabs not so hot or boozy. Sweet cocoa, syrup. Tasty, but too sweet for me, lacks much beer tone or finesse. OK.

2017 can shared at DACBE New Year's share. Thanks Nick! Pours a pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates instantly. Big vanilla, roasted malt and cacao nib nose with some berry and prune notes underneath as it warms. A touch of bourbon on the palate but more chocolate and vanilla. Velvety texture on the palate. Very smooth and easy drinking. Lingering chocolate, vanilla and coffee on the finish. Super smooth.

Tap. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, soy, light barrel, tannins, dark fruits, bread. Taste has dark chocolate, light ashy roast, soy, subtle vanilla-like barrel notes.

Can at home, thanks to secret santa! Pours black, nose is chocolate, burnt toffee, wood, coffee, taste is sweet, caramel, fudge, chocolate, roasted, little bit of coconut.

Flavor is sweet, rich malty, coffee, coffee beans, nuts, chocolate, little bourbon, alcohol. Medium body, soft to average carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. 120517

[ As The Veil Sleeping Forever 2017 ].Clear dark black brown colour with a small, fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, wood, alcohol, chocolate - vanilla, coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, wood, chocolate, roasted, dark malt, chocolate - vanilla - cocoa. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, cocoa and vanilla. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate, coffee, cocoa and vanilla finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
