Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Skyview. Comes as: "Millstream 25th Anniversary Dopplebock". Pours a cloudy brown with hardly any head (probably due to a loose cap, the bottle had leaked during shipping). Lovely aroma of pumpernickel and nuts. Solid body with a great malt base, pumpernickel, nuts and molasses. Carbonation is low. Hardly any bitterness. 290911

22 fl oz bottle as 25th Anniversary Dopplebock. Pours hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is toasted malty, breadish and light caramelish. Sweet, breadish, caramelish and roasted breadish. Dark malty and roasted into a medium dry and caramelish malty finish.

A hazy nut brown beer with an orange head. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, and just a bit of a bite from the alcohol.

Sampled at RBSG06. Hazy dark body with a medium frothy off-white head. Aroma of mild caramel with a similar.

Bottle, enjoyed while watching the White Sox trounce Boston in Game 1. Well, I couldn’t cellar this once I found out about Iowa 6% abv limit. So let’s enjoy it now: Pours a respectable cola brown with nonetheless a slightly alcoholic, malty smell. Taste is grainy and a bit overly sweet, like Italian coffee syrup. Taste is a bit of a letdown, I guess, after the promise of that smell. But then again, the lowered abv puts it out of the style definition, so it’s pretty nice for whatever it is. And hey, Wawood, it’s not odd that you went this long without an Iowa beer: I think Millstream is the only Iowa brewer that even does retail packaging.

Odd sweet potato aroma. Brown. Sweet but lacks dark fruit or malt flavors. Good, heavy palate, but something seems off.
