Bottle from Deya shop Burton-on-Trent Wasn’t holding out much hope for this one, but was very pleasantly surprised. Nose is dominated by molasses with a hint of liquorice (thanks Erika). Pours a very dark red with a slightly beigish head. At the front of the mouth this is full of dark fruits, raspberries and treacle. But then as the liquid reaches the back of the throat it turns into a chilli-like hotness which gives a lasting warming finish. Very nice indeed - possibly the best Latvian beer that I’ve actually bought in England.

Smell - quite weak, to medium side, roast, caramel, not bad. Foam - medium thick, soft to creamy side, some roast bitterness up the tongue. Medium height, chocolate milk color. Appearance - dark, clear, red if looking through light. Taste - bittersweet, some nuts, some caramel, maybe bit of citrus, more hoppy bitterness in aftertaste, and aftertaste lasts a bit. n general better than one I had before, but still mediocre at best.
