Rich in flavour and deep in character, our stout salutes Brixton’s Windrush Square named after the MV Empire Windrush – the ship that brought the first wave of West Indian immigrants to South London in 1948. So take a sip and say cheers to the vibrant Caribbean culture that makes Brixton come alive. 104 EBC.

33cl bottle into a thistle shaped Gordon’s glass on 31st Dec 2015, my 6th beer of an English tasting session I am having with myself. Deep, dark and foreboding body with a full and lasting tanned crown on top. Rich and Stouty in nature with a smooth yet robust malty base. Nice.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear almost black pour with a frothy broken light tan head. The aroma is light grassy hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a yeast, light grapefruit citrus, grass hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More like a black IPA than a stout.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with small, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Spicy, roasty dark malty aroma, fruity, citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of grapefruit, red berries, dark fruit, some pine and resin. Taste is roasty dark malty, piney hoppy overtones, some dark chocolate; dry, minimally papery, chocolately finish. Quite light and slightly watery. Appropriate to evoke a Caribbean daydream allowing for a minute escape from European winter.
