600ml bottle from the LCBO. Nice spicy, hoppy, yeast nose. Good grassy notes with some subtle spicing from the rye. There is a good amount of cereal malts, some nice grain aromas. Medium bitter finish with more subtle spice, and some great grassy hops. The bitterness really leans towards american hopping, but it really goes well with the rye. nice stuff.

Bottle: Poured a copper color ale with a large dirty beige head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry grainy malt notes is more or less pleasant. Taste is also dominated by unrefined grainy notes with some dry bitter hops notes also discernible. Body is about average with good carbonation. Spicy rye notes were not as dominant as I would have expected and some unrefined grain notes were not the flavours I was looking forward to.

Part of their 2013 Oktoberfest 4-pack at the LCBO. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a creamy off-white head, great retention leaving thick foamy lace all-around. Rye, darker malts scent with floral and caramel notes. The rye is quite present in the taste, but this is where the hop shows up with a grassy finish. Some decent bitterness lingers. Some fruitiness appears as well, to blend things. Not my favourite style, but well-done and glad I could try No. 14 of this series. Wish they brought out the Dr. Jekyll too.

Smells of honey. Taste is bitter with a little sourness and a light touch of honey. Strong malt flavor. A really well-crafted, interesting beer. Bottle at Castro’s.

A hazed amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a light biscuitty malt with smooth herbaceous hops, and wet grass. In mouth, a nice crisp malt with oily mouthfeel, floral hops, grapefruit notes, very nice. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest Oct. 1 2011.
