9th April 2011
Light haze on this dark red - brown beer. No real head. Slightly booze laden fruit nose with a little marmite. Semi dry palate. Low carbonation. Red berry fruits, strawberry jam and a trace of cherry. Licorice spice. Mild marmite streak. Dry finish. Some nice flavours here but they don’t join up that well, too disparate.

Clear brown body with a thin white head. Sweet malt aroma. The flavor is sweet but there’s not much else going on here. Needs complexity.

A dark reddish amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, pleasant perfumey malt with orange peels, herbal notes, light solvents. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with light curacao, light roasted notes, alcohol warmth, rich and nutty, a bit cloying. On tap at Lancaster location, April 8 2011.

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours a dark, somewhat hazy amber-brown with a moderate, off-white head. Sweet malt nose, with some ripe, dark fruits, yeast and spices. Sweet flavor, too, with strong caramel, burnt sugar, faint bread, modest alcohol and dark fruits. Full in body with average carbonation and mild warmth. Finishes very malty and sweet with candied sugars, caramel and lingering fruits. Nice beer.

Wow, 2 beers footbalmed in a row............ Nothing worse than having to dump a beer, brings a tear to my eye!

2007-11-02, Papsoe Blind Tasting, corked bottle
Hazy red mahogany color; big head. Simple aroma, sweet caramel, very light cereals. Sweetish flavor, with some malt and caramel; correct bitterness. The alcohol is warming the mouth. No emotions, but not bad.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of kramer17801. Pours a slightly cloudy, dark, reddish brown with a beige head. Distinct aroma of overripe fruit, alcohol and a little yeast. Distinctly full-bodied with sweet fruit and caramel, some yeastiness and a distinct, warming alcohol. No real bitterness. Nice. 021107

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is sweet malty and quite spicy. The flavor is sweet with notes of spices and vegetables, leading to a dry spicy finish. Thanks to Papsoe for sharing.

Not so good. This beer has an aroma of Chinese takeout. It is brown in color, lots of malt in the flavor, but an off flavor of vegetables.
