Bottle from the brewpub on 07/12/2010. Cloudy orange body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet earthy and floral hop aroma on a caramel and earthy pale malt background. Sweet earthy and caramel malt flavor with some light earthy, floral and grassy hop notes. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Pours clear amber into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sweet caramel and oak aromas. Full with upfront hot, sweet caramel turning to bitter resin in the lasting finish.

An amber barley wine with a thin white head. A nice burned caramel aroma, hops, lightly vinous, treacle. In mouth, a rather bland barley wine, with light honey and woody notes. Tap at BCTC 2009
