Cloudy, thin head. Aroma is floral, fruity hop. Sweet front, then bitter, still quite fruity. Lingering pithy bitter finish.

Tap at Taiyo Sakaba. Big tropical fruit nose with pineapple really shining with grapefruit and iyokan notes. Crisp and clean on the palate, crackery malts with good carbonation. Bitter but nowhere as bitter as the regular version. I like this version.

Tap at Takumiya. Finally got to try this after so many years. Juicy nose of stone fruit, peaches, nectarine, and orange. A bit of tropical fruit there too. Rich, bready malt. Deep fruity flavors, rich yet crisp and light. Nicely done, juicy, peachy flavors without strong bitterness or sharp citrus.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pale-ish gold with a finger of white foam. Lots of pine resin and grapefruit on the nose with some skunky weed notes as it warms. More weed on the palate with some herbal and grassiness that stands out. Aggressively bitter on the palate. Feels a little boozy for the 5.5 abv. Not bad, but just not that impressive compared to some of their other beers. Bitter, dry finish that lingers. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shiga Kogen Snow Monkey IPA on 03 Mar 2016 at 20:44 - Score: 6. Original review text: Bitter, but ok. Lots of pine and resiny hops with some grapefruit. Kind of old school like house IPA lite.

Pours orange with a light haze, small head that does not really persist and reduces into a thin film in seconds. Aroma is a bit skunky, dominated by grassy-herbal hops, not too much, rather soft feel to it. Taste is quite aggressively bitter though, slightly skunky herbal hop flavours display some strong bitter bite, body of the beer has a bit of fruitiness, peach and melon providing some softness, bit hops dominate and continue their dry lingering into the long aftertaste. Nice and drinkable session beer, kicks much higher than it’s 5,5% would let us believe. Could drink this in volumes.

heady leafy nose but too light body and not a ton of bitterness. Not all that interesting for me.
