Calvados BA Flanders Red Aged on Smoked Plums
Originally brewed in collaboration with our friends at Heist Brew Co, Crimson Fang is a palinka inspired barrel aged Flanders Red style beer, aged on Scottish plums.
For this single barrel version, we took a portion of Crimson Fang and aged it in a fresh Calvados barrel for a further 6 months. To this barrel we added 40kg of locally grown Victoria plums of which about a quarter were smoked over wine staves.

Clear red/amber pour with a small, lasting tan head. Aroma is oak, smoke, apple (brandy), malt/bread, vinegar, a hint of cherries. Taste is (sweet) vinegar/balsamico, tart apples, malt/bread, some oak and citrus. Very nice indeed.

Bottle at home... Dark brown beautiful tan head... Deep red wine... Red fruits... Big balsamic nose... Big acetic edge.. Big sharp tang.. Light brett.. Dark berries... Big acetic finish.. Its definitely not a quaffer

Bottle @ Væskebalancen. Hazy dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, smoke, acetone, oak, lemon and dark fruit. Flavour is malt, fruit, smoke, dark fruit, oak, medium sweet, lemon, citric and a little dry.

Bottle from Cork & Cask, Edinburgh. Pours clear dark red brown with a tan cap. Aroma is sour, malt, hints of smoke, oak, some plum/dark fruits. Taste: moderate sour, acetic, light balsamic, vinous hints, oak, sour dark fruits. Medium body with fine carbonation.
