Bottle thanks to Mick. Pours a very clear yellow color with a medium white head. A light grassy grainy nose. Citrus, grainy husky body, lemons. A bit of dusty earthiness. Very much a hoppy saison, clean and flavorful. This is one of the clearest beers I’ve seen, almost as clear as water.

Poured from 330mL bottle (dated 16.7). Pale, slightly hazy light yellow with white head and mild sediment. Citrus and light yeast, with some white pepper, salt, and dry, bitter finish. Just a hint of funk at the very end.

Tap at Q-Brick. PRetty, hazy gold with a fine, low head. Nose is saison yeastiness, lemon, crackers, spices, light ginger from the shobu, bread. Quite bitter flavor, very light salt, more simply minerally. Decent. subdued but pretty nice.

Pours really yellow. Bit of white foam. Aroma is quite citric, some fruitiness and a bit of mango. Taste is hoppy and light. Some citrus and grapefruit also there, salty closer to the finish - but quite subdued. I think they are using shoubu again - and doing it better than with miyagi blonde. Some nuttiness also there. Not bad at all. Somewhat rough and feels maybe a bit raw but refreshingly drinkable.

Shiga Kogen Salty Hop was inspired by a Gose. 4.5% It’s a very pale gold with a salty lemon wheat aroma with some spicy saison funk. Highly carbonated with a raspy mouthfeel. The taste is saison tart funk and salt - yum. The aftertaste gave me lemon and coriander. Perfect for summer with a high drinkability.

On tap at Craft Heads. Soft aromas of lemon zest and white grapefruit with some white pepper and coriander noticeable as well. The body is very light but very refreshing. Taste is all white grapefruit and lemon with some coriander and white pepper. The salt really kicks in about 2/3 of the way through. Did Shiga make a gose and not call it that? I would say so. This is a gose through and through. Wonderfully thirst-quenching. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shiga Kogen Salty Hop on 21 Jul 2015 at 20:53 - Score: 7
