Sayers Stout is brewed with roasted barley, chocolate malts and an array of British hops, delivering undertones of coffee, chocolate, honey and pine. With a distinctive full mouth feel, this dark brew is a fitting tribute to the London stouts of an industrial age.
WHAT’S IN A NAME
Tom Sayers was a 19th century, bare-knuckle prize fighter. His most famous match, against American champion John Heenan, was widely considered boxing’s first World Championship. It ended in chaos when spectators invaded the ring, and the referee finally declared a draw. No doubt Sayers enjoyed a few stouts after this epic encounter.

33cl bottle at the brewery on 19th Nov 2016. Ruby hue to the dark brown body, beige head. Decent aroma and taste: Chocolate and coffee esters to the fore, some vanilla joins them in the flavour. Nice, smooth palate, slightly oily. Liked it.

Can sourced from Good Taste Food and Drink, Crystal Palace, London shared with the Fam/Steatham (29/08/2016) - dark brown pour with beige head. Toasted and medium roasted malty, cocoa, caramel, coffee, pretty decent easy going stout and loved the can artwork :)

Bottle. Appearance - dark brown to black with a decent fawn head. Nose - sticky toffee pudding. Taste - liquorice, toffee and molasses. More dry, almost salty caramel at the end. Hazelnuts and therefore praline. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long smooth finish. Overall - really interesting and complex.

Bottle at home - picked up at the London Brewers Market, April 2016. Pours clear brown with a creamy, light beige head. The aroma holds restrained roasted malts, mellow cocoa, dark fruits, hints of berries. Light sweet flavour with smooth chocolatey dark malts, more berries, mild earthy bitterness, relaxed roasty malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Finishes with light charred malt bitterness, a little earth, ripening berries, bittersweet cocoa. Great stuff overall. Lots of flavour packed into this little guy.
