Moonwake Lager is a precision pairing of our Leith Shore location and our head brewer's New Zealand roots. Soft, Scottish water, our best local resource, is ideal for brewing Lager. We add Kiwi hops, Motueka and Wakatu, which are descended from traditional Noble varieties used in continental lagers. The result is a crisp, mellow lager with a citrus kick.

ABV increased from 4.5% to 4.8% in 2023.

Keg at the taproom. Pours golden, nose is toffee, hay, taste is sweet toffee, hay, floral.

On keg at Monty's Bar. Appearance - golden and clear. Thin white head. Nose - light bread and cereal, some hint of lemon. Taste - citrus, light herbs and bready. Palate - light bodied, dry finish. Overall - decent.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Cork & Cask. Pours crystal clear gold with a lasting, frothy white head - looks great. Lightly sweet with strong grassy bitterness, husky grains, dirty hay, dried biscuits. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Bitter finish, grassy, lightly earthy, sun-kissed pale grains, more hay. But the bitterness throws the balance off a little bit otherwise it’s quite nice.

Can from Cork & Cask. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of grain and light tropical fruit. Taste is quite bitter for the style. More cereal grain. Bitter finish.

Can from Cork & Cask. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of grain and rain on concrete. Flavour of grass and a hint of lemongrass on the finish. Thin body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Straightforward and easy to drink.
