Sheffield CAMRA Beer Festival 2025, Beer#1. Near black with plenty of cookie and caramels in both aroma and taste, not my usual starter at a festival, but a very welcome one.

Cask-conditioned at the Nags Head, Reading 21/9/2023. Jet black in colour, with a tight, beige, head. Brown sugar, rich chocolate character, some dark berry sweetness before a toasty finish with a slightly creamy edge. Very good.

Bottle from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a tan head. Nose is most certainly cookie dough, touch of marzipan, caramel, toffee, cappuccino. Taste is cookie dough, aniseed, toffee, spot of coffee lingering in the back end. Sweet spice & lightly bitter hops in the aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - black and opaque. Big beige head. Nose - light dishcloth. Creamy vanilla. Taste - big fresh tropical note. Sweet dough notes. Dark chocolate. Palate - medium bodied and creamy. Roast on the finish. Overall - weird but pleasant somehow.

28/5/2021. Cask at the Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Pours black with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, cookie dough, toffee, touch of dark fruits and blackberries, nut, dried fruit and a hint of banana. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, smooth texture, very soft carbonation. Cloying, developing bitter finish. Rich, tasty stuff.
