Bottle shared at the CBJ tasting, thanks to LKS, 15/11/23. Murky amber with a good sized lasting beige head. Nose is fruit cake mix, caramel, spice, herb. Taste comprises dates, grains, lick of booze, caramel. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Lower grade old skool life.

9/12/2023. Bottle from Sir Toby's Beers, Norwich. Shared at EBGPQF. Pours clear dark amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is syrupy, toffee, biscuit, malt, hint of apple. Medium plus sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Junction - picked up from Pigs Ear fest. Pours lightly hazed russet with a creamy, off-white head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted malts, light wood, melon, orange peel, subtle leafy accents. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty well balanced finish, further crispy toasted malts, mild earthy-leafy bitterness, dried citrus peel. Decent overall.

Craft Beer Junction bottle share, thanks to LKS. A light haze on this amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light semi dry minerally crisp palate. Thin caramel malts, slightly more bitter than sweet. Tangy apple and pear. Light dry finish, mild spice. Nice flavour but thin and dry.

Can shared at the craft beer junction bermondsey. Many thanks. A light hazed orange brown coloured pour with a loose beige head. Cola cubes, grass. Flavour is composed of semi sweet. Oily, white grape, tangy. Moderate carbonation. Palate is semi sweet, carbonated.

Bottle. Ringstead Stores, Ringstead, Norfolk. Mostly clear dark amber. Fine swirly off white head. Nose has cracknel. Fruited tea loaf. Cake mix. Taste is dry and vinous. Some dried grape bitterness. Smooth affair given the 8.8%. Foamy carbonation. Lingering vinous bitterness to finish. Easy drinking.

A big thank you to Graham for giving me the chance to get to know English beers better, and my ignorance is still very, very great! Ce conte de Bob m'a laissé perplexe. Rangé dans les Barley Wine, il n'en a ni la densité ni la profondeur aromatique en proposant une texture très fine, des arômes sans de réelles nuances et par contre un alcool, à 8,8 % relativement présent. On s'approche en cela plus d'une belge forte que d'un Barley Wine. En verre nous sommes sur un ambré voilé sans mousse. Le nez est sur une alliance céréales et alcool qui la rapproche d'une Piraat. A la dégustation l'ensemble est relativement simple avec une toujours ce duo céréales/alcool agrémentée par de légères épices faisant toujours penser à une Piraat, avec une puissance, une vivacité moindre toutefois. Corpulence et longueur sont modérées pour leur part. Troublant ce Barley Wine.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear dark amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas of fruit loaf and toffee. Taste is cinnamon bun, spicy dough and toffee. Warming finish with a hint of apple.
