Clear and golden with a frothy white head and a fruit hop aroma. Solid floral bitterness up front, with cereal malt underneath, finishes dry and bitter.

Bottle on 2nd January 2023 from the Wellington, Birmingham. Pours a coppery amber with thick yet quickly diminishing foam and scant lacing. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Citrus peel, berry fruits and toffee malts in-mouth, with malt dominating the finish. Smoothish mouthfeel and a light to medium body. 7-3-8-4-15. Re-rating December 2024: Cask at the Craven Arms, Birmingham on 13th December 2024. Slightly hazy amber with shallow, dense off-white foam foam full lacing. Sweetish malty aroma. Leafy and grassy hops in-mouth and a grassy hop finish. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Exquisite. 7-4-8-4-16

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Tropical fruits are in the nose and dominate also in the mouth. Oranges, mango and pineapple. It has a creamy texture with some underlying sweet malts and caramel. Finish is quite a bit more bitter. Nice and refreshing but somewhat bland.

500ml bottle direct from brewery. Look - clear amber, small white head and a small spattering of retention; ok Nose - caramel malts, lime; very simple traditional gold aroma Taste - biscuit malts, hint of caramel, some citrus; pleasant but unremarkable Palate - nice medium body for a 4.2%, minor chewiness, a slightly aggressive carbonation but nothing a hard pour wont sort. Overall - the blurb on the bottle states 'session beer bursting with a hop character of mango, tropical fruits and lime'. This most certainly is not the case. I like traditional but this beer feels out of time. Not sold on this one but its fine.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Mid-gold and clear with a foamy white head. Musty grassy aroma with wood and forest floor. Bittersweet taste, astringent and sickly at the same time. Dry finish with vegetal flavours in the aftertaste. Flat body. Not for me.
