(Cask at Pikkulintu, 20130306) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had toffee, molasses and English hops. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were toffee, grass, sweetness, molasses, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. A nice and a bit hoppier bitter. The cask hadn’t reached its best point yet.

On cask dispense at the Mawsons Arms, the Fullers brewery tap in Chiswick (Feb ’12). Served into a Fullers half pint glass to a golden/amber colour with a very small slightly off-white head which soon eases to the edge of the glass. Not a strong smelling beer, I get a little citrus on the nose and some sweet grain. On the palate, biscuity malt, a little subdued hop flavour and a hint of honey in the background. A fairly thin bodied and watery beer. Yet another ’6 nations rugby’ knock up that scores highly on the ’BLANDOMETER’ ! It didn’toffend me but certainly didn’t inspire me, and remember this was at the brewery tap where the beer should be at it’s best (which I don’t doubt) - it’s just not a great beer!

Cask handpump at The Queens Head, Farnham, Saturday 10th March 2012 Pours dark gold/light amber with a white head, good clarity. This is fruity with a reasonably decent hoppy snap at middling bitterness that lingers, not bad at all. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Cask at Salutation, London. Pours clear, golden-brown with a fine, foam head. Doughy malts and caramel candy in the nose. Light sweet flavor, dry leaves, some toasty dough. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry to finish, more light dough and leafy bitterness. Very basic, but not bad.

(Cask at Royal Oak, Borough, London, 23 Nov 2011) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of orange, apricots and dusty hops. Malty, fruity taste with orange, biscuity malt and dusty hops in the finish. Light body, with balanced sweetness. Drinkable, but hardly exciting.
