Golden Promise and Pale Ale base with a touch of chocolate and red crystal malts underwent a long boil to develop a rich and complex character, aged in brandy barrels for 12 months Deep brown in color, full bodied with a velvety mouthfeel, boozy and sweet, caramel and brown sugar with notes of dates, figs, dried fruit, and a hint of oak on the nose.

15/II/25 - 33cl can, shared @ Bar Beenhouwer (Gent), BB: 2/XI/27, R93, 1-BNBR (2025-144)
Little cloudy dark red brown to dark chestnut brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very oxidized, lots and lots of dried fruits, raisins, prunes, caramel, a bit malty, some vanilla, soft roast, a hint of chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: a little watery impression, pretty bitter, rather roasted for a barley wine, dry, caramel, some dried fruits. Aftertaste: a bit sourish, fruity touch, dried fruits, bitter, good roast.

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of caramel, brandy and dried fruit. Pours hazy brown color with medium sized soapy cappuccino-like head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts with moderate sweet toasted malt, caramel and dried fruit, follows by brandy and slightly herbal, mouthfeel is smooth and warm alcoholic, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Barely hairs’ breadth from perfection…

Burk från SB, 2021. Backlog.
