Bottle, 0.375l, 5 years old. Aroma is musty, vinous and citrusy with notes of apricot and brett. Pours murky orange clay-like color with totally diminishing off-white head and floating yeast particles. Taste starts tart grainy and citrusy, follows by ripe apricots, white wine, bread and and wood with rather dry mouthfeel. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Almost perfectly clear light amber and copper coloured body with a bright orange glow and a soft, but noticeable two to three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of super pungent apricots, brett, yeast, soured fruits, light apples, a dose of tart, soured foeder and spontaneously fermented fruits with a dry oak note throughout - super complex in the nose. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong apricot flavours with some peach notes and a bunch of soured and tart fruits showing through with some oranges and lemons as well, but the brett and funky yeast qualities drive through and a perfumey and almost herbal kick towards the end. Aftertaste is very complex as well with the dry oak noticeable first, then showing some of the alcohol and carbonation with the sour and tart fruits then coming and finishing with a sweet and decidedly apricot bite at the end, which is very nice and still incredibly complex and dry. Overall, a very nicely done, super elegant beer that shows the sour, fruity, dry and funky flavours in that order, all in large quantities, but pungent throughout AND relatively subdued and subtle at the same time. A great beer to sample and even better if you like/love sours and perhaps one of the best if you love apricots, as this is pungent in that fruit. Great to sample, especially as the last beer that I'll have in my house here on the Eastern Shore, but more as a great deal (wrong price) from the store and almost exactly three years after purchase and almost five years after brewing in Colorado! I sampled this 37,5 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Columbus Circle/Central Park), New York on 11-June-2017 for US$3,19 with a date on the back of the bottle as 'August 2015', sampled at my house here in Hacksneck, Virginia on 13-June-2020 for one last time.
