Fremont Brewing began as a dream in 2008. Years later, our dream has come true in each and every one of you, our craft beer family. And like every family, we have had our ups and our downs, but we keep coming back together knowing we are stronger together. In your hands is a special nod to you, a gift for now that will continue to give many years from now should you have the patience to wait…Brew 8000. This English-style barleywine ale uses floor-malted English barley, Noble hops, and is aged in 10-15 year-old, single use bourbon barrels for 16 months to bring you a complex and subtle craft beer flavor experience. We brewed this to celebrate brewing our 8000th brew, and we look forward to sharing it with you, our craft beer family. “Barleywine Ale Is Life.” – VWP
Down & Dirty: Maris Otter Pale and Carafa 2 Special malts with White Wheat and Magnum and US Goldings hops.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is malt forward with tons of complex character. Layers of caramel, toffee, burnt sugar and toasted bread. Lighter notes of chocolate and roast with a hint of a smokiness. Light bourbon and oak notes. Medium light alcohol notes. Pours a fairly dark brown color with a medium small, moderately thick, light mocha head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Fair lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with layers of caramel, toffee, tootsie rolls and burnt sugar. Notes of toasted bread, chocolate and treacle. Hints of roast and smokiness. Medium bitterness and moderate alcohol notes. Hints of noble hops. Light oak and bourbon notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a really solid barleywine. Tons of malt character with great complexity to it. Balanced alcohol notes with complimentary bourbon and oak notes. This is the best of the brew x000 beers in quite a while.

Very dark brown with thin head. Aroma is quite savoury like Bovril. Flavour is more balanced with vanilla bourbon barrel sweetness and dark chocolate.

Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy dark tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, caramel, vanilla. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet, with a big, rich, smooth, roasty, liquorice, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, boozy liquorice bitter palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation.
