Boris pours black and opaque like a moonless sky over Siberia. Eight different malts bring a complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee and roasty sweetness. And just in case the winter gets too cold, we brewed this giant spider to 10% abv. So grab you snifter and ushanka and enjoy.

Found some Spider Bite cans in the sad back room store of Now & Later in Syracuse. Plastic cup at the hotel. I probably got lazy & rinsed out some cider from it previously. Pours like motor oil, but develops a lingering cocoa head. Smell is mildly sweet, level roast, nothing burnt, nutty, with warming booze. Lush, silky feel, nutty, some acid, mellow but lingering bitterness, dryer on the finish. Soft 10%. A very smooth drinker. Well done Larry & Paul.

16 ounce can. Opaque black pour leads to a dense, dark brown head. Roasted malt aroma hints at dark chocolate, coffee and licorice. Bittersweet and warming from the 10% ABV. Earthy and mildly smoky. Some softness on the palate. The long-lasting clinging tan lace leaves images of galloping horses on the inside of my crystal snifter. Giddy up!

I received this beer as part of a beer of the month gift. Roasted malt, some wood ash, but it works. Not smokey at all. Lots of chocolate and medium sweet, a little coffee flavor. Some alcohol in the aroma, but the high alcohol level is well hidden. A little sugar for balance. Solid beer.
