It’s the year the restaurant opened, frequented initially by fishermen who spent their days—not angling the rivers—but inside the Siphon, drinking beer. 1902 is a classic Belgian style—a golden Tripel of 8.5% ABV—but with a twist of honey and lavender. The addition of honey accentuates the rich nectar-like maltiness of the beer, and the distinct aromas of the lavender compliment both the floral, earthy hop profile and the banana-esque, apricot yeast flavours. Siphon Brewing Honey Lavender Tripel 8.5% A good looking warm golden brew with a thick off-white head of foam. My first smell of the bottle gave me an almost chili like smell. On closer sniff, you definitely get honey and lavender though they merge into something piquant/chili like Prickly carbonation with a full body and lots of honey plus floral lavender flavor. Overall it is quite sweet but balanced and the lavender gives you a sort of gruit like vibe. I’m digging it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,15l from tap at BXLBeerfest. dark yellow hazy color, small white head. smells of elder flowers, herbal, thyme, rosemary, light washcloth. overall very nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of elder flowers, thyme, rosemary, herbal, spices, peppery. finishes dry and lightly bitter with notes of thyme, rosemary and spicy notes. I quite like this one, very nice herbal notes. very good one 8, 4, 7, 3, 16

2nd day of BXL fest. Slightly unclear golden with white head. Sweet malts, sugar, grain, dank cellar, sweaty socks, vegetable farts, cloves and gumballs. Too sweet, moderate bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation.

Sampled at BXL festival. Slight hazy golden with white head. Floral, light yeast, bitter herbs, more floral eaters and it smells like my granny’s bathroom. Sweet malts and herbal hops. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Over medium bodied.

7 3 7 3 14Draft at BXL Beerfest ‘18, Brussels. Hazy golden orange with a white head. Aroma of herbs, citrus, light fruits, malt and yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

F: medium, egg-white, not long lasting. C: deep gold, hazy. A: malty, spicy, coriander, herbal, honey, fruity, yeasty. T: malty, mellow fruity, BE yeast, honey, bit herbal, coriander, bit more spicy but not bad, medium to full body, medium carbonation, enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Prik&Tik Kampenhout bottle shop in Belgium.

ABV: 10.5%. Hazy medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, rich malt, flowers, nectar, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, belgian yeast lavender, honey. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a long duration, peppery, lavender, flowers, belgian yeast, honey, light alcoholic - phenolic. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20180806]
