The silky web of our latest stout is laced with a malty bill of maris otter pale, dark crystal malt, wheat and a hint of the darkest of chocolate malts. Our team were brave enough to crawl into the spider’s kettle and add lactose, to add extra sweetness and body to this creepy-crawly Silk Stout.

Cask at Reading BF. Black with a thick beige head. Very, very smooth; lives up to its name. Coffee to the fore, with chocolate and a light roast coming through. It's a tad muted though; it needs something a bit more punchy to balance the smoothness. Not bad though, pleasant enough for the last beer at the festival.

Handpull cask at the Parcel Yard, Leicester. Very dark brown, translucent at the edges, with a small creamy off-white head. Chocolate malt and notes of sweet liquorice in the aroma. Gloriously sweet taste with fruity hop in the finish. Milky coffee, blackberries and liquorice in the aftertaste. Medium oily body, gentle carbonation. Very good.
