Black beer, thin head. Winey booze smell, along with chocolate and rich malt. Taste doesn't have the big punch I expected but there's a fair bit going on. Salted caramel, wine, malt, chocolate, a bit of a woody touch from the barrel aging. It's smooth and rich and very, very drinkable.

330ml can from Good Spirits. Black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate and raspberries. Flavour is similar with some caramel and a boozy finish. Surprisingly light and creamy for such a thick, dark beer. Really good

Can from Oddbins shared with the Familia. It pours opaque jet black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich, bitter- sweet, chocolate cake, toasty, juicy, jammy, red berry, vinous, tangy fruits, touch vanilla and chocolate cake. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, rather fruity upfront, jammy berry, vinous, roasted malt, woody, lactic, creamy, cocoa, vanilla, bit of spice, warming alcohol, sachertorte and a touch of spice. Finish is dry and toasty. Fulsome body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Red wine character definitely comes through well. Complex, yet well rounded. Very nice.

Can shared with Ashton McCobb 05/10/17. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Lost of red fruit on the nose, faint chocolate. Taste is more red fruit and chocolate. Strawberry and raspberry. Milk chocolate. Creamy, but also thinned out a little by the barrel. Got none of the salted caramel of the original, but still nice.
