Malice is the land between sour beer and Brett beer. The beer was brewed with over 100 pounds of tamarind, blood orange, and lime zest. Dirty straw orange in color, it’s bursting with earthy funky tartness and finishes with heavy citrus skin and tart citrus. The land between is so good!

Sample at the 2014 Infected Chimipalooza on 11/01/2014. Peach-colored pour with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of funky fruit, earthy yeast and herbs. The finish is fruity with a tart citrusy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle pours with a deep gold body that has copper hues and supports a thin near white head. The aroma offers up meadow, flowers, some tartness, malts and a bit of apple like fruitiness. The taste starts tart but not aggressively where there’s some apple and a dash of lime fruitiness leading into an interesting mix of woody sort of acidic notes. Pretty nice overall as it is tart, acidic a kind of woody spiciness but there’s enough going on to keep it interesting.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #8. Draft at the downstairs tap room. Pours a clear amber color with a thin frothy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of dry citrus, caramel, tamarind, mild notes of earth, funk and umami. The taste is tart lime, other citrus, caramel, musty and tart in the finish. Medium bodied, definitely has some strong Asian vibes.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a combination of tart citrus, Brett and a bit of a dry red grape note. Flavor starts with more of a rich tart dark fruit note with a bit of a Brett bite and a finish of deep, dry red wine.
