Keg at The Old Fountain. It pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is earthy, musty, earthy roast, coffee, wood, burnt toffee, coffee grounds and ash. The taste is dry, slick, earthy, ashy, charred, oily, slick, coffee grounds, tar, spice and wood bark with a drying finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Black beer, thin head. Earthy, malty aroma. Flavour has all sorts. Malt, chocolate, a dash of coffee, vanilla, some tangy fruit, and I think there really is a woody-spirit taste from the bourbon. Not the richest beer of the sort you’ll ever have but pretty tasty all the same.

Bottle courtesy of dad, cheers dad consumed at the end of the evening after Merton Beer Festival, Oxon, Friday 24th February 2017 Pours black with a beige head. Quite smooth with a good hit of vanilla, chocolate and light creamy coffee. Not really picking up the coconut that others do, that said it does have a chocolate bar nod to it. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Taste comprises light coconut shreds, bourbon splashed oak, Bounty Bar, light peppery spice, dark fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Tasty enough BA porter, hangs together well.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light, dry and has a fine minerally crispness. Mild dark chocolate. Touch of milk chocolate and then a little coconut. Whisper of fruity bourbon. Light finish. Decent flavours but feels thin.

Tried at the 2016 Nottingham beer Festival. Almost black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is musty, roasted malts and alcohol. Taste doesn’t balance the alcohol which makes it harsh.
