Vivid

Super hazy golden coloured body with a rich, three centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of bright grassy and tropical fruity hops with a little herbal scent as well. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and tropical fruit flavours coupled with some malt, a bit of resin and unfinished sugars and quite a bit of alcohol on the finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of alcohol, sweetness, resin, tropical fruits, earth and hop bitterness at the end. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA which shows the new world hops quite well, coupled with some bitterness, sweetness and alcohol that you’d expect from the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-July-2016 US$6,83 sampled at home in Washington on 23-October-2016.

Cloudy amber color. Very mild hop resins and oranges in the aroma. The mouthfeel is lean but a bit oily, moderately sweet; the malt has some cereal and buttery character, I’m not excited by this; the hopping is quite good, strong bitterness, moderate resiny character, light fruity character.
Not bad, but far below expectations.

22 ounce bottle. Amber orange pour topped by a large bubbly beige head and splendid clinging lace. Nose is sweet caramel malt and piney hops. First sip yields a sweet caramel maltiness with buttery notes. Midtaste brigs piney hops with tropical fruit notes. Complex and spicy with a hint of boozy alcohol. More buttery malt notes in finish. Decent, yet not great.

650 ml bottle. Pours a copper color with light head. Aromas of brown sugar, pineapple, pine and toasted malts. Flavors of same with emphasis on malts and pineapple. Simple but really nice.

On tap at Alibi with Brian. Pours a clear pale copper with a white head. Aroma is sweet, fruity, caramel, with some tea notes. Same character taste with some fruity bitterness. Very good stuff.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours orange tinged gold with a white head. Nose has lots of citrus but deep inhale draws in mango and mixed fresh fruits.Med body or so. Flavor is bitter citrus, perhaps grapefruit zest. There’s a caramel backbone, but it’s barely noticeable. Does a decent job of hop support tho. After a bit it reveals some tropical and perhaps something herbal. Earthy? Suddenly I’m thinking highly hopped saison. Strange that. It’s different from most, and it is a tasty thing that drinks well. Nicely bitter.

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy opaque dark reddish orange with a small beige head. Aroma is extremely sweet, with caramel malt, resinous hops and candied sweetness. Flavour is very sweet, with loads of caramel malt, resinous hops and loads of residual sweetness. Too sweet, but not disastrous. Not my thing at all.

Bomber. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A big sweet citrus orange nose. The flavor is big sweet funky fruity hops. Caramel. Very smooth. Cactus.
