Pint can from Woodman’s Appleton, shared at the PS Surly Darkness Tasting, 2/25/23. Near black, thin tan head, average retention. Aroma of coffee, oak, pepper, rum, cherry, coconut. Taste is coconut, vanilla, oak, rum, coffee, raisin. Nice.

Can. A- Soy sauce, fudge, mild oak. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Soy sauce, rum, vanilla, toasted coconut, chocolate sauce. P- Full body, average texture, medium carbonation, slightly hot finish. O- Loved the matte black can. That may be half the reason I bought this. Debated drinking fresh or saving. Ended up with the first option. This was a bit hot from the rum barrel but it didn't take away from the beer. Really, this reminded me of a coconut Bourbon County Stout. Good stuff but falls short of world class. Doesn't really taste much like the base beer I know. Almost cloying sweetness. My biggest problem is I get virtually no coffee unless you count a Starbucks Mocha kind of coffee flavor. Great but hard to argue $12 for a pint can for it.
