A crafted dark beer without the associated dry finish of a stout. Caramel and toffee notes from a blend of roasted malts combine with the heavily hopped flavour of a traditional IPA.

From the bottle. Virtually black with a thin but creamy beige crown. Aroma is full of plum, raisins and dark chocolate. Fairly sweet for a bIPA, full of fruit candy flavor, a hint of tartness, and a lingering but mild, ashy bitterness at the finish. Medium body that feels flaccid at times due to the lower than average carbonation. The ABV stays hidden. A decent one even if a bit odd. Not typical for the style though.

330ml bottle; drank on it's Best Before Date (21st Sep 2018) at home, poured into my thistle shaped 'Gordon' glass. Black bodied with a thin tanned topping. Malty chocolate aroma and taste, fairly bitter throughout, slight burnt malty feel, hops hidden by the dark malts. I liked it, but this sin't a good example of a Black IPA style wise.

Bottle. Roasty nose, chocolate, charcoal, grapes, licorice. Black with a lacy head. Spicy licorice flavor, some citrus, very roasty, coffee. Pretty burnt and bitter, which is how I don’t prefer the style.

A bottle at home bought from the Old Jerusalem and sneakily drunk while preparing the dinner. It looked good in the glass and had a minimal head. The flavour was roasted and toasted malt with a delicious and well integrated flavour and bitterness from the hops. The mouthfeel was very nice from all that malt and there was a welcome minimal level of carbonation. The alcohol was well hidden and it slipped down a treat!
