A historic saison style beer made with calendula and homegrown yarrow flowers yielding a hugely aromatic brew that’s dry and bitter. It’s an excellent aperitif and always ready about a month and a half after the first spring yarrow flowers.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with small white head. Aroma brings out loads of floral notes, some coriander, and Belgian yeast. Flavour brings out loads of floral notes, some coriander-like spices, some of the lacto, and a bit of the barrels subtly contributing. Very floral and fairly spicy, with a medium palate. The barrels don't add that much to this, as this is still very floral and spicy. Solid stuff, but not as good as the original.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orange color with a large white head.A light herbal and floral nose, big lemons. The flavor is similar with honey, dry flowers, vanilla, more lemons and a bit of lavender. Really nice and despite the unusual dominating herbal/floral elements, it is really drinkable.

750 ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a somewhat hazy copper color with a large white head. A big nose of barnyard funk, light dandelion, woody. The flavor is excellent: big funky dusty notes, white wine, apricot, lighter suggestions of tartness but overall almost all funk from the bacteria, lemons, more oak, some vanilla comes in. Maybe I’m crazy but I get some yoghurt (same bacteria). Nice brew.

Slightly cloudy golden pour with pillowy head and great lacing. Aroma of hibiscus and some hops. Finishes a little bitter. Average carbonation. A little basement musk in here as well. Bottle thanks to Liam.

750 ml wine-like bottle. Just kidding! I just read that annoying NY Times article. Okay, maybe not so funny. Geez. This beer pours a hazy cantaloupe hue with a large cream-colored head that sticks around for a nice long time; after it recedes it leaves some nifty-looking lace; a constant skiff and island of foam remain on top of the liquid down to the last drop. Aroma is extremely floral and yeasty, with banana, barnyard funk, and custard notes. Taste is not nearly as impressive as the aroma, but it’s not bad. It’s lightly sweet with a firm hop backbone; leaves the mouth dry. Seems a little thin and watery. Overall, again not bad, but there are a lot better farmhouse ales being made right now. I would like to try more from this brewery, but this is the only one available where I live (that I’m aware of anyway). As a sidenote, this beer comes in at a staggering wine-like 5.1% ABV!!!! Joking, really.

Aroma is dominated by flowers with a phenolic note to help balance the floral note. Lots of calendula with a spicy yarrow note. The phenolics have a light pepper and coriander note. There is also a bit of citrus and a light fruitiness. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a big pillowy white head that slowly but steadily recedes. Huge lacing. Flavor starts with quite a nice floral character along with some citrus that creates a bit of a citrus blossom note. A bit of a sweet honey note. The citrus has a nice lime characteristic to it. There is a bit of a grainy astringency mid palate that lingers a little in the finish. There is a bit of a pepper and coriander note mid palate but this finish is lime and flowers. Medium low bitterness that finishes fairly dry. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Medium low alcohol warmth and medium to medium astringency. Overall an interesting saison with tons of floral aroma and flavor. That being said, the floral character is a bit overpowering and the astringency is about high. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy yellow/brown with full head. Aromas of yeast, pineapple, and white pepper with underlying funky floral notes. Definite floral flavors (can’t say what yarrow and calendula taste like) along with yeast, peaches, and lemons. Nice.
