Pours a deep brown-black, with massive, lasting head. Aromas include licorice, roasted grain, chocolate, coffee, tobacco, leather. Flavors include all of these, plus a touch of "homebrew" aftertaste that surprised me and I didn’t really care for. Up to that point, I thought this was a pretty solid black IPA, but it needs a bit more development.

On tap at the brewery. Pours near black with alight brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of musty dark grains with earthy pines and a bit of roasted malts. Flavor begins with dark grains and dark chocolate with a bit of pine and roasted malts.
