Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 2015, National Winter Ales Festival (2015), The Roundhouse, Pride Park, Derby, Derbyshire, England, DE24 8JE. [ As Ulverston Laughing Gravy ].Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, dusty malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, dusty, malty, nutty, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20150212] 6-3-6-3-12

500ml bottle from Booths - Clear chestnut brown body, thin white head. Nose is sweet malty caramel toffees, taste starts with honey sweetness, and ends with a bit of a tart metallic finish. Rather average beer.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark amber to chestnut. Some head which disappears fairly quickly. Nose - honey and grain. Maybe some stewed apple. Taste - more honey, light malt (not quite biscuit), Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a bit too sweet.

500ml bottle from Booths, Penwortham. Pours clear copper brown, thin white head. Toffee apple aromas, caramel. Taste is honey sweet, stewed apple. Slightly thin finish.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clear auburn with a frothy white head. The aroma holds light grainy bread and dried fruits. The flavor is medium sweet with light berries and other semi-ripe fruits, and bready malts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish with further dry fruits, bread and leafy bitterness. Solid bitter.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Deep golden amber with a thin,scummy looking, cream head; floral aroma; soft and biscuity in the mouth with a gentle floral bitterness. Rather understated but very drinkable.

500ml brown bottle, best before end of Sept 2012, poured into my Abbot Ale glass tankard in March 2012. Looks like a proper ale: true copper/amber hue to it, clear and clean. An off-white blanket of rocky foam sat on top, pretty as a picture. The smell and taste are of a well blended malty beer that has a fine hop balance which adds just enough bitterness to take away any hints of over sweetness. Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts along with torrified wheat are used in the kettle, the hops being both Amarillo and Goldings. Very ’moreish’ in its flavours, had trouble putting the beer down to write this (a live review). I love trying beers from all over the world, but ales like this remind me what fantastic brews we have in the UK as well.
