Radler

Ginger Lemon Radler is a zesty, refreshing take on the tradition of mixing beer with soda or lemonade to create a light, thirst-quenching beverage ideal for warm weather. Radler (literally “cyclist,”) takes its name from active German sportsmen of a hundred years ago, but our version tastes just as good even if you do nothing more strenuous than lifting it to your lips.

Solid radler. Refreshing, and the ginger gives it just a bit of bite.

Can at Big Texas Beer Fest. Pours a hazy yellow with small white head. The aroma is ginger soda and citrus. Thin body, sprite, ginger, crushable, very good.

355ml can shared with my wife. Pours a murky yellow with a medium, frothy, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of malty grain, lemon and ginger. Sweet flavour of malty grain, ginger and lemon peel with a crisp, dry, sour finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation. Refreshing and well done, just not a big fan of ginger.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Lots of ginger and zest in the nose, light pils malt. Clean, crisp refreshing, low malt but balanced. A touch sweet though, but ginger spiciness throughout. A great refresher on a beautiful Nashville day.

On tap in Devilicious, Temecula California on 10th Feb 2017. Not usually a ginger in beer man, or a Radler/Shandy guy either, but my daughter ordered a pint and I had a few gulps and sips to rate it. Blonde, straw coloured body, thin white head. The name says it all really: it’s got loads of ginger and lemon flavours and aromas within it’s make up. Refreshing and highly carbonated, thought it OK, but glad I did not have a pint to drink.

Super hazy golden coloured body with honey highlights and a two centimetre tall off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma of ginger, lemons, yeast, grain, sugars and way more freshly grated ginger - pungent. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong ginger flavour at first hits hard and strong, then shows a lemon freshness fairly well, along with some more mellow malts and yeast flavours and a bit of pungent honey sweetness on the tail end. Aftertaste is really all about the ginger, lemons and effervescence, which is still present. Overall, a good radler with way more flavour than the german varieties, and although it sort of tastes like a throat lozenge, it has an interesting flavour that is exactly what the can suggests. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 02-April-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 27-October-2016.

Sampled on draft at Vintage Estate this beer poured a murky bright yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was tart ginger paste and lemonade. The flavor was strong ginger powder, ginger paste and lemonade. Long intense ginger finish. Medium body. Pretty tasty.
