Ginger Lemon Radler is a zesty, refreshing take on the tradition of mixing beer with soda or lemonade to create a light, thirst-quenching beverage ideal for warm weather. Radler (literally “cyclist,”) takes its name from active German sportsmen of a hundred years ago, but our version tastes just as good even if you do nothing more strenuous than lifting it to your lips.

Draft: Lemon-lime nose. Cloudy amber, headless.Overripe lemon, artficial ginger. Medium body, fizzy. Lemony soda, not something I will seek out.

Can at Lulu’s. First impression is a ginger ale cut with lemonade. Doesn’t taste like beer, but very refreshing. Not a radler, but in the traditional sense, but a nice summer quaff

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 5/23/2016. Pours hazy golden straw color with a 2 finger foamy and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, ginger, wheat, and cracker; with light pepper, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of lemon/ginger, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, ginger, wheat, and cracker; with light pepper, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and ginger spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, ginger, wheat, cracker, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness and balance of lemon/ginger, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good dryness on the finish. Medium carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is a very good radler. All around good robustness and balance of lemon/ginger, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast flavors; and very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
