Bottle shared at the Kernel - thanks to Paul. Pours black-brown with a dense mocha head. The nose holds dark malts, charred wood, lightly tangy dark fruits, cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with bitter charred mals, earth, dried dark fruits, baking cocoa, mild alcohol, vanilla pods. Full bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Warming finish with sturdy woody char, dark chocolate, cherry, baking cocoa, burnt sugar, earth. Well balanced and deep, and quite drinkable. Excellent.

Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and smooth with good fine carbonation. Lovely dark malts, light but flavoursome. Good dark chocolate and dark malt cream. Very nicely judged barrelling - mild fruity bourbon, just a little bourbon spice. Mild dark fruits and a trace of spice. Light finish. Very easy drinking BA stout, great job!

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours black, nose is bourbon, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, taste is sweet toffee, bourbon, chocolate. 3.9 Bottle at home. Bit of a soapy mess :/ some bourbon character coming through on the taste but mostly it’s fairy liquid, disappointing. --- Beer merged from original tick of Barrel Aged Old Ford Export Stout on 18 Nov 2014 at 08:11 - Score: 8. Keg at the brewery tap, 31/10/14. Pitch black with a dirty tan covering. Nose is subtle barrelly waftings, tar, woody, treacle toffee, light spice, liqourice. Taste comprises sweet licks, dark fruit rinds, raisens, liqourice, spice, subtle bourbonics, big aniseed tones, light roast, cocoa rubs. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet lickings. Solid BA stout. Great balance.

Keg at Redchurch Brewery tap, Bethnal Green, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Bourbon, port, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, boozy, bourbon, port, slight chocolate, dark fruit, really quite sweet. I prefer the normal Old Ford Export stout but this is still very good.
