New look, same fresh taste. One of the all-time highest rated IPAs on RateBeer, AleSmith IPA is a west coast-style India pale ale icon. Bursting with massive hop aromas of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruits from huge additions of Columbus and Citra, this classic IPA is perfectly balanced by a healthy malt backbone and smooth, bitter finish.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2016. This one is a more or less clear looking one, golden in color and a nice medium sized white head on the top. Smells quite fresh, fruity. Hoppy and quite grapefruit oriented. Nice aroma inviting. Tastes good also. A little grassy perhaps, lots of bitter grapefruit and grapes. Feels nice and oily in the mouth and it's about average on the carbonation. Long bitter tail. Almost a little warming down the throat. 13.05.2016 --- Beer merged from original tick of IPA on 02 Nov 2012 at 01:07 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: 0.65l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. Finally it's my turn to try this! A honey-golden one, lot's of small particles and a big heavy lacing just off-white head. The aroma is really fruity indeed. Lot's of citrus, peaches, grapes and something reminding of licorice. Smells nice, but not extreme. Good bitterness in the taste. Not as fruity here as I perhaps could have hoped for, but it's definitely really really balanced. Caramel and quite on the grassy side. Almost on the border of pungent? That's a bit strange. Carrot-sweetness, some zesty things also, and a hint of dry yeast in the finish. Tasty, but I probably had hyped this a bit to much.. 27.07.2012

Pours golden orange from the bottle with a frothy white head. Aroma is mango, pine, coriander, tangerine. Taste is bittersweet and quite fruity, mango and citrus being dominant. Finish trends bitter but still in balance with a dry, lightly warming finish. One of the best IPAs I have drunk.

Can. Hazy honey orange, good ivory head. Hoppy nose delivering citrusy and resiny notes. Honey malts background. Medium body. Very solid bitterness characterizes the flavour. Resins and grapefruit. Medium to heavy bitter. Some sweet malts behind it. Very long bitter finish. Well it is not surprising. It is just damn very good.

Thanks D.! MBR. Misty orange golden body. White head. Sweey dough and assorted citrus fruit. Lovely! Mixture of peachy and doughy notes on a solid malty base. A touch of lime and a well integrates herbal bitterness. Lovely indeed, superbly drinkable for the ABV.

355ml can into shaker. Slightly hazy golden copper beer with perfect two finger white head. Steady fine carbonation. Nose is citric and earthy. Light and fruity at first then a long lingering descent into bitterness, seems to grow through grapefruit, quinine, pine until a last little burst of sweet fruit and malt balances it all. Complex and contemplative.

Rating no. 8,000. Bottle from Total Wines and More, Sterling VA. Amber in colour, with a frothy, white, head. Massive tropical fruit and floral hop aroma, with grapefruit, pineapple tangerines and mango on display. Flavour had plenty more, tropical fruits, balanced by some crisp and slightly biscuity malts, before a well-balanced, dry, finish. An excellent beer.
