Made with a good quantity of roasted malts and a big dry-hop with some classic American hops such as Amarillo, Simcoe and Citra, our Black IPA radiates aromas of pine and citrus. Earthy, subtle caramel and dark chocolate on the palate balance harmoniously with the citrus flavours.

330ml can at The Craft Bier Shop, Malacca, Malaysia. Poured a clear dark mahogany colour with a mostly lasting frothy off white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is roasted malts, light sweet toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a somewhat rich and smooth, roasty, liqourice, herbal, light floral woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Not your average black IPA, with more body, sweetness and carbonation. Nice.

Can split at L6 Tasting, thanks to Tipple, 25/05/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is treacle toffee, dark malts, light charr, roasted tones. Taste comprises cocoa powder, pine dusting, charr, light spice, dried red berries, earthy roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close spiked with dusty hop bitterness. Okay CDA.

Can shared in CW - cheers to Tipple. Pours clear brown with a creamy, off-white head. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of cotton candy, earth, light roast, flora hops, toasted malts, pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, quite bitter, earthy. Not bad.

6th Floor bottleshare. Thanks to Tips for the Can. Almost clear brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, good fine carbonation. Thinnish malts, a decent creamy sweetness. Caramel and a little toffee. Plenty of hop spice and a mild pine. Some ripe fruits on the crisp finish. Not bad.

Can shared at London Columbus tasting 25/05/2023. Thanks to Tipple for this one. A light hazed nut brown coloured pour with a halo of beige head. Aroma is plastic, hockey puck, brown malts, tarmac, little odd. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, tarmac, woody, sticky pine, toasted malts. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, little harsh, moderate fine carbonation. Plastic.

Can from Winerack at home. Was so excited for this. Dark nearly opaque brown pour with fine creamy light tan head. Aroma is earthy woodsy pine - like damp forest floor and bitter cut grass. Taste is sharp earthy pine hops and alcohol sting, roasted dark chocolate. Palate is light and smooth, ever so slightly chalky. Carbonation a bit light. Lasting earthy bitterness. Definitely solid but not as good as the DIPA released alongside this one, despite my love of black IPAs.
