Riesenwelle, sattes Baltic Porter: Unser Kaventsmann leistet nicht nur auf hoher See guten Beistand. Schon vor über 100 Jahren braute man die englische Spezialität in Hamburg und rund um die Ostsee etwas stärker für den Export ein. Denn das nachtschwarze Bier war in ganz Europa beliebt und ist es auch heute wieder. Wahrscheinlich wegen der satten Malzaromen von Schokolade, getrockneten Früchten und Espresso. Also alle Mann an Deck!

Bouteille: Deep ruby-amber coloured, quite stable medium-sized off-white head; sweetish-toasty nose, coffee and dark malt detectable, cacao too; moderate sweet and mild bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; barely drier chocolatey and sweetish toasty finish, subdued aromas of dried fruits detectable. Not that bad, but too much on the sweet side…

(bottle, 33cl) Dark brown, almost black coloured hue with a big and beige foamy head. Moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, espresso and a whiff of rubber. Mildly roasty bitter and delicately sweet flavour, rather light bodied with a soft carbonation. Quite dry and moderately roasted malt character with hints of chocolate, coffee and burnt notes; dry and roasty bitter finish with just a tinge of malty sweetness. Drinkable but not really convincing. 01.XII.15

bottle, Heinrichs 3000 Kornwestheim. Dark brown with a beige head. Chocolatey with a touch of coffee and some earthy hops. Ok.

Bottle. Brownish black with a thin head. Aroma is roast malt. Flavour is malt, coffee, dry fruit and vanilla. Lacks bite.

Smooth malty beginning. Quite easy to drink with hints of roast and sweetness. Not too deep, hints of bitterness, nice and round but not too depth.

33cl bottle. Pours very dark brown colour with a huge good lasting beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla. Taste is mild roasty, sweet, chocolate, vanilla, good!

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Slightly musty, dark malty, aroma, hints of cocoa, pumpernickel, coffee surrogate, soup cube; all "flavours" seem to stem from cheap and somewhat overaged products purchased in distress late at night at a shady kiosk. Taste is initially dry, slightly roasty dark malty, later slightly sweet, a touch of pumpernickel, cold coffee and dried fruit; metallic finish. Joins the Ratsherrn army of mediocrity inconspicuously and adequately, the fancy make-up and complacent cockalorum neglected.

0,33 l bottle. Pours out in a nearly black. More than one finger beige head. Malt and barrelwood on the nose. Taste starts with a lot auf roasted malt, coffie ,getting a little bit thinner to the middle part but still present. Some fruity hints in the background. Could be more intensive.
