330ml bottle. Almost black colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Slightly roasty, dark malty aroma, hints of caramel, a touch of malt lozenge. Taste is dark malty, slightly roasty, hints of caramel, a spicy touch of coffee surrogate, minimally metallic hints of coffee. Nice Dunkel but not really Stout-ish.

Bottle (@ local EDEKA): Deep chestnut-amber coloured, presumably hazy, quickly collapsing off-white head; coffee, chocolate and toasted malt in the moderately bitter-sweet nose; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, a delicate acidity detectable, light bodied, a bit fizzy; lingering coffeeish-bitter finish with balancing traces of sweetish toasted malt. Not bad, but too thin for a reasonable Stout...

Brewing stouts is not a a German tradition and the craft beer scene here is still relatively new. I’ve begun to approach such efforts here with a mixture of both anticipation and trepidation. Pours dark brown from the bottle. The foamy head fades after a short duration. Aroma has roasted coffee and burnt toast notes, but otherwise not a lot going on. Taste is bittersweet with a burnt toast aftertaste. Body is light to medium, a bit oily, but also watery in places. As efforts go, it’s not a catastrophe, but there is room for improvement. Lacks depth. Kudos for trying.

0.33l bottle from kappldav123. Thank you David! This one pours a deeper dark brown colored body with a nice medium sized slowly fading latte colored mildly lacing head on the top. It has a sweetish and almost a little milky aroma with lots of chocolate and roasted elements. Dark toasted nuts all the way. Quite delicious to just sit and smell at really. Tastes quite decent also. Lots of roasty elements in the taste also. Not directly ashy, but somewhat mineral dry and almost a little Schwartzy in the taste. It has a mild oily texture in the mouth and it's just below average on the prickling carbonation. Chocolate and hints of cardboard, but it's the toasted walnuts that makes the most impression. Really different and tasty. Quite nice to drink, and in addition a long wanted tick-off on Saxony-Anhalt. 18.02.2017
