To cut a long story short………..we had to brew a beer to celebrate the talent born and bred here in Islington in the form of 1980’s new wave band Spandau Ballet members Tony, Gary and Martin. In their honour we have created a fantastic golden ale to remind us of one of their most memorable hits ‘Gold’

On tap at the brewhouse, pours a clear gold with a little white head. Nose has perfume, soap, some citrus. Flavor is flabby, honey, lemon, soap, herbs. Finishes watery. Not great.

Cask @ Brewhouse & Kitchen, Islington). Almost clear golden orange body with a small white head. Aroma is light pale malt with some citric fruit and hint of grapefruit. Light and refreshing flavor, pale malt and citric, grapefruit and moderate bitterness. Nice and easy, refreshing but probably closer to a hoppy golden ale. Decent enough.

Sampler tray at the brewpub, cask. Clear pale amber, filmy layer. Mild fruity hops on the nose, mid-dry. A taste profile with notes of grapefruit and mango. Brief bitter ending. Okay partner to the grilled chicken food (Islington, London 08.04.2016).

Golden color, steady small white head. Light fruity-woody aroma. Light-bodied. Light flowery hoppyness, clean maltyness. For me this kind of IPA is just a harmless Golden ale.
