To cut a long story short………..we had to brew a beer to celebrate the talent born and bred here in Islington in the form of 1980’s new wave band Spandau Ballet members Tony, Gary and Martin. In their honour we have created a fantastic golden ale to remind us of one of their most memorable hits ‘Gold’

Cask at the Brewpub. Bright clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry with a fine crispness. Good condition. Nice hops, not slapping me around the chops but orange and tangerine with a nice floral touch. Light finish and a mild peel bitter linger. Nicely done.

Cask at the Islington brewpub - London. Pours clear, rich gold with a frothy white head. Great nose with rich citrus fruits, tangerine, some grapefruit. Light sweet flavor with pleasant pithy grapefruit and balancing pale bread sweetness. Light bodied with fine carbonation; great condition. Well and hoppy on the finish but still very well balanced. Very good beer.

Cask at the Brewhouse. It pours clear amber with small white head. The nose is wood, oily, grain, brown bread, toast and cereal. The taste is crisp, bitter, wood, leather, resin, pine, oily, lemon rind and grapefruit with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Crisp and rather drinkable. Solid.

Cask at the brewpub during my 40th bash, 11/10/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is citric zest, light pine, bread dough, melon, straw. Taste comprises orange pith, light mango, pine, tropical tunes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. Decent enough cask SIPA.
