A blend of 33-month-old barrel-aged English Barleywine. Extended aging in Buffalo Trace, Heaven Hill, and Willett Rye barrels has coaxed out complex layers of dried dark fruit, caramel, fresh leather, warming spices, figgy pudding, oak char, cocoa powder, and demerara sugar from this mahogany liquid. Part of a four-pack of special releases (2 barleywines and 2 stouts).

Panda thanks to Wingman. A mild haze on this deep amber brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, a mild dryness, decent fine carbonation, about right for this barleywine. The malts are fairly light bodied but, packing a ton of flavour, smooth caramel, cream and a little dark toffee, none of it oversweet. The barrelling tastes like a mixture of apple brandy and bourbon. Some oak induced vanilla. Not really picking up that much cedar. Light finish. A rich and tasty barleywine.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 18/11/2025.
Black with a tan head that veers edgewards.
Nose is dark malts, spice, mellow roast, chocolate, subtle barrel tones, molasses.
Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, toffee, dates, ripe barrel notes, spruce tips, fruit cake mix, figgy pudding, brown sugar melt, good bourbon lick, hint of liquorice.
Full bodied, light oily feel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper ... this one grew on me.

Pint can crowler pours with a deep mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up plums, dates, molasses, thin rich deep slappin' malts flowing into soft spirit barrel goodness. The taste delivers smooth slick slippery sweet malts, brown sugar stewed plums, dates and then molasses like sweetness. Below the sweet dark fruity esters lurks integrated smooth barrel booze notes. This works really well and includes a bit of warming of the belly due to the large abv. This is right up my alley. Banger.
